{underground band name here}

{Insert close-up, black & white pic of guy in 'guitar stance'}

Did you know that indie music is my fave? I don't talk about it much b/c I don't want you to steal my favorite Shins ringtone, but... I guess for the sake of my blog, I will share the latest news!

We got to see {band} while they were in DC at the {exclusive club} this weekend.

Have you heard of them? No?
Probably cuz they're not on the radio.

There were only 300 people there and we got so close to take this picture!

{Insert even closer-up pic of guy looking like Joey Ramone}

P.S. In case you were wondering . . . I haven't forgotten about Haiti. I donated like a ton more this weekend. And I added a Red Cross link on my right column!

new year, new calendar

Ok, I know.

I know we’re in Febbraio already, but last year’s calendar includes the first 3 months of this year… so now I need help deciding which one I get for my rock-awesome desk.

Everyone knows to survive at work (and in this economy) you need to have a really cute, original, feverishly-colorful desk. Seriously my coworker was laid off the other day—but no wonder. Her desk had plain metal magnets and one [pixilated] picture from her wedding day. Shows she is not creative in the least.

She didn't even have her own desk-orchid. What was she expecting?

Some calendars I am considering:

Paper Source Wall Art Calendar
After I'm done with each page, I can not only ruminate on how it was the best month ever; I can also make it into a new file folder and more. Paper-source made it easy with templates to help me cut them into all sorts of re-usable shapes!

Pottery Barn Daily Dot Calendar
This one is so unexpected! This calendar is even less practical but this will last me forever. Plus there is no chance my coworkers have anything like this. I will look so creative and may even say that I made it myself. Shh...

Or I Could Create
My Own.

This is the One.

What do you think?

I Love Haiti More Than Anyone

My husband and I were so fortunate to go on a service trip to Haiti to help the children just last year. It was the best! If only we could be there to help now!

They need me!!!!!!!!!

I found this picture on BBC News (that site is almost as international as my blog) and had to share. So sad!

My favorite memory of Haiti is how the children looked so happy and free, despite their poor economic circumstances. One of my 1,000 ambitions in life is to help kids like these to be as happy as I remember them from a year ago. I wish I could be in Haiti with them right now!

So many opportunities for service yet so little time and funds. Seriously, I should set up my own non-profit site right now. What do you think about IALONECANSAVEHAITI.ORG ?

Until I get IACSH.org up and running, please donate to these other orgs!

Why Donate to the Red Cross Like Everyone Else? Be Unique and Give to St. Jude's. They're helping out too ya know!

Hungry? Go to Cakelove and Buy a Lemon Coconut Cupcake! All $4 will go to Haiti! Do it.

Our Family

I forgot to introduce the third and most important member of our family.

Our rescued-lab Bramwell/Enzo/Arje/Razi.

That’s right we rescued him. Could anything be better?

My Eerst Post [that’s dutch]

Of course everyone wants to hear from me everyday, so here I am!

I am Eden/Livvy/Scarlett/Ireland and I am so awesome. In college I did a study abroad in England/Italy/the Netherlands/Mozambique, and I will NEVER be the same!

I am from DC and love it, and I brag about it to outsiders! I have lived here my whole life except for a 5-year adventure to LA/Seattle/Vancouver/San Francisco to get my Bachelors in Marketing/Graphic Design/Environmental Science/PolySci. So now I am both east-coast and west-coast.

Since graduation, I now work for a major airline! I know, right? I get to travel everywhere for super cheap. Jealous?

I am eclectic! I love everything. International and American, indie movies and pop culture, high fashion and quirky-vintage, and anything that is urban and/or country. I love travel and roughing-it, but I also love to be ‘pretty.’

Words that get me really excited are ‘natural’ ‘organic’ ‘independent’ ‘color’ ‘underground’ ‘quirky’ ‘unique’ ‘urban’ ‘international’ ‘cultural’ ‘intellect’ ‘creativity’ and 'baba ganoush.' I am all of those combined!

I am the only one that gets all of the above. You probably don't know anything about being eco-friendly, indie, or unique.

All about my victim of a husband, aka my partner:

His name is
Rivers/Alex/Conor/Ethyn
. I say he's a victim because I see a lot of couples where they have a blog together, but really, the wife does all of the posting. Well I will try to leave him out of it—we are independent people.

I also call him my partner, because it’s just culturally less demeaning.

RACE and I met on our study abroad in England/Italy/the Netherlands/Mozambique. I knew it was love when I saw his skinny body in an old Smiths/Vote for Pedro/Beatles/Greenpeace t-shirt. A few years and many foreign films/charity runs/humanitarian trips later, we got married!

RACE works in DC too. He works for the government, but not for boring old people that want to find more oil for cheap. He works for an environmentally-concerned group within the USGS/Dept of Agriculture/EPA/Dept of Energy. So cool. That’s why I love him.

Both of us are so international and speak 3 languages each.

Did I tell you we are into photography? Pictures are coming soon!

Love ya!
ELSI
